Beauty: top 10 favourite beauty buys of 2017

As the year nears its end, I enjoy looking back on its highs and lows. Preferably focusing on the highs, obviously, because I choose to be an optimist. I rounded up my 10 favourite beauty discoveries of 2017: if any of these have remained under your radar, I urge you to check them out. Without further ado, and in no particular order, my top 10!

Travel: a day in Paris (and a Gucci belt)

a day in Paris: Le Marais
outfit: beret: Galeries Lafayette - sweater: c/o Vero Moda - military coat: Zara - handbag: Kate Spade - pearl embellished skirt: c/o Shein - sneakers: Vans

Hey babes! My love and I took a much needed break this weekend to go on an impromptu trip to my favourite city: Paris! I had been dreaming of visiting the city around Christmastime to experience its festive loveliness, and I am happy to say that I made that dream come true. On Sunday we spent way too much time on our feet (my legs are still sore from all that walking) exploring Le Marais, a part of the Louvre and Galeries Lafayette. My lovely boyfriend only complained a little when I asked him to take a billion pictures (Paris is Instagram gold, y'all) so sit back and get those scrolling fingers ready!

Christmas giveaway: Softwaves shoes of your choosing

Christmas is almost here, and I'm giving away a pair of gorgeous, super comfy Softwaves shoes! I am a big lover of the brand for their elegant take on comfortable footwear (can't beat those bouncy soles), and they make some of my favourite shoes for daily wear that takes me anywhere from the office to a day of shopping to a night out. Since you guys are so awesome, I'm giving away a pair of Softwaves shoes of your choosing! All you have to do is:
  • follow Softwaves on instagram
  • leave a comment featuring your email address or send me an email at thestylingdutchman@hotmail.com, and mention your instagram handle so we can verify that you've fulfilled the requirements
And that's it! I will pick one lucky winner on 22/12 8pm, so that the winner can be notified in time for Christmas ;-)
For inspiration, check out three of my favourite pairs of Softwaves' fall/winter 17 collection:

Good luck!

Beauty: does dermarolling work?

Beauty: does dermarolling work?

Today I'm going to talk about dermarolling and I will be showing off a before/after of my skin. Does dermarolling work, or is it just another hype? Let's find out!

I'm reviewing Swiss Clinic's 0.2mm skin roller paired with their rejuvenating serum. I had been seriously on the verge of ordering this particular skin roller myself after seeing Vera's glowing review, and then I got an email from Swiss Clinic offering up a product for review: total serendipity! Vera has similar skin issues to mine, with lots of redness in her complexion. After a couple of weeks of dermarolling, her skin had cleared up significantly - did she find the magic cure to rosacea? I had to investigate, obviously.

Travel: a day in Brussels

yellow adidas gazelle, teddy coat, yellow pilot glasses

Hi babes! My guy and I have been trying to do more on the weekends lately instead of just running errands and spacing out in front of the TV. On this particular Sunday, we set out to visit the Musée Magritte in Brussels, but because we are the people we are, we never actually made it there but instead wandered the city for a couple of hours. It felt like we were on a city trip abroad despite being only about an hour away from home, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous (but freezing) so we took some lovely pictures. Brussels often gets a bad rap (and not completely undeservedly so), but the city has plenty of loveliness to enjoy. Also, I wore a pretty crazy (but cool) outfit. Enjoy!

Beauty: Giorgio Armani To Go cushion foundation review

Beauty: Giorgio Armani To Go cushion foundation review

Hi babes! As you may know, foundation is my number one can't live without beauty product. I have a lot of redness in my face and having a good foundation makes ALL the difference for my look and my confidence. I have tried a lot of foundations through the years (read the rest of my reviews here), and one thing I can say for certain is that you do not want to count pennies on your foundation if quality coverage is a priority for you. Not saying that all high end foundations are amazing, but I've honestly never gotten ALL the things I want out of a budget foundation. What do I want? Let me sum up:

- a good colour match for my fair, neutral skintone
- medium to full coverage that doesn't look too heavy
- a satin or matte finish
- and a long lasting product that does not start getting greasy or shifting around on my face after a couple of hours

Giorgio Armani foundation is known for its superior quality, but I haven't had the pleasure of trying any of them yet. That is about to change as I will be reviewing GA's To Go cushion foundation today. Will the foundation live up to my standards? Let'stake a look!
